Trusting God in the Waiting

In 2005, during a morning devotion, God gave me a vision of a ship. I immediately assumed this meant He was calling me to work on a cruise ship, but the years that followed taught me otherwise. I kept the vision in my heart, sometimes sharing it with fellow believers who may have thought I was a bit crazy. Yet, I clung to it, trusting that God had a purpose.
Fast forward to 2012—seven years later. I went on my first mission trip to a small island in Indonesia. We traveled for three days on a large passenger ship. On the second day, as I stood on the deck gazing at the ocean, God reminded me of the vision He had given me years before. The mission trip was a life-changing moment. My understanding of missions shifted. It wasn’t about danger or dramatic sacrifices; it was about building relationships and becoming a bridge for God’s love.
But that wasn’t the fulfillment of the vision. In 2013, God opened the door for me to serve on a mission ship with 350 believers from over 60 nations. Together, we shared hope in Christ across 16 countries. It was humbling and awe-inspiring to witness God using His people to reach the world.
Looking back, I see how God was preparing me during those eight years of waiting. He taught me to rely on Him, to obey even when I didn’t understand, and to be bold in sharing the truth. Like Abraham, who trusted God without knowing the destination; like Noah, who built an ark while waiting for rain; and like Joseph, who believed his bones would one day rest in the Promised Land, I learned that God’s timing is perfect, and His faithfulness never fails.
If you’re in a season of waiting, take heart. God is not delaying—He is preparing you. Your obedience in the waiting is shaping you for His purpose. Trust Him, for His plans bring hope and a bright future.
Take courage. The wait is worth it.
