TEN DAYS OF WAITING DAY 5

Focus in the Waiting

Ps. Melinda Newman

In August of 2022 when we sold our home, the Lord made a way for us to rent a property around the corner from our old house and we put a tiny house on it, along with a camper. So we went from almost 4000 square feet to less than 500 square feet with both spaces combined. Needless to say, we didn’t have enough space for all our stuff! We rented 3 storage units on one side of town, borrowed a garage for Ellis’s little car he’s rebuilding (thanks Wynne and Susanne) and a put a couple of tubs in the church attic. So we have our stuff all over Natchitoches!

When we sold our home and moved, we thought this would be a “short-term” living situation. 6 months at the most! Well, as of today, we are still in the camper/tiny house asking God everyday to open the door for the right house or land for us to purchase. Lately, I’ve been praying for even a house to rent so we can have all our belongings in one place again. He has yet to open the door.

When I think about us living in a camper/tiny house for the last 2 1/2 years with our “stuff” stowed away all over Natchitoches, I get a little frustrated. However, the Lord gently reminds me that I have a roof over my head, food in my stomach and I have much more than I need. I am truly blessed. I may not always have what I want, but He has provided everything that’s needed. Maybe we are still waiting because He wants our focus to be on Him and understand He is truly all we need. No matter the reason, my prayer is that we are found faithful in the waiting.

Psalm 27:13-14 (The Passion Translation) ”Yet I believe with all my heart that I will see again your goodness, YAHWEH, in the land of life eternal!. Here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Don’t give up; don’t be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord. Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting—for he will never disappoint you!”.
