Changing our Desires
Ps. Melinda Newman
In 2020 Ellis and I felt the Lord stirring in us about getting out of debt. We knew that could happen if we sold our house. All the kids had moved out, Granny (Ellis’s mom) had moved back to Odessa Texas, so it was just the two of us and our dog Isabelle. We continued to pray about what to do and waited. In October that same year, our friend Fredna had a couple trees fall on her house so she came to live in our Mother-in-law house where she gained her new nickname “Roomie”.
So as time went on, our hearts desired to become debt free continued, so we prayed asking God to open the doorways to get out of debt. In 2022 we heard the Lord tell us we were to put our house on the market. Fredna was still with us, but her house was getting close to being completed. So, in February of that year the house went on the market and we waited. Not long after that, Fredna got to move back into her brand new home and in June we got a contract on the house, July we moved into our camper and August 5th the house sold.
Sometimes God gives us a word for us to ponder. In our case, He planted the seed of becoming debt free and it became our hearts desire and when that happened, He moved mightily and answered our prayer.
Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
